charly1979
I have been doing a bit of DIY in the girls run. All girls getting very excited at the sound of any rustling during my work the screwdriver bit fell out onto the ground within seconds I was grabbing for it in the woodchip but Trixie beat me to it clearly she couldnt resist the shiny thing ! Cue a huge scream from me and a yell Trixie NO !! she runs off wit it in her beak thankfully she dropped it and I managed to get it back but all that was going through my head was oh s it what if she eats then what am going to do, clearly it would be too big for a chicken to eat but she had me worried daft girlie

suebee
...Oh this made me laugh charly! Know how you felt too...Panic stations!... My last greedy lot always eyed me like hawks whenever I did diy in their run. I got round the problems of screws, and bits and pieces, by taking the whole lot into their run in a tall bucket that they couldn't reach into with their nosey beaks.... But yes, I did have to dive for the occasional dropped screw!
daxigirl
Little monkeys aren't they. I've had to scrabble amongst the dirt and beaks for earrings that people have found too shiney to resists pecking out when bending down to sieve their sand bath or top up feeders. I also had a scrum with Eccles the other morning when I dropped the screw bit that holds the cabbage on the spike.
charly1979
It is however these little adventures that makes keeping chickens even more delightful. My 7 are now desperate to FR as they have seen me raking all the slate chippings and bark chippings back onto the correct beddings from the lawn and patio they clearly need to undo all my work, they seem to be like my real kids keen to create as much havoc behind my back but being adorably cute at the same time
