auntielizzie
This is really weird - there are so many posts about pecking at the moment Maybe it's the time of year One of my girls is being pecked on the back - not too badly though, although it looks a little sore sometimes. I've been using purple spray and anti-peck spray. This morning I though maybe I could see some new feather growth starting - although I'm not sure as I don't know if new feathers would start growing through again until she has a moult Anyway, I keep applying the stuff and I have some stockholm tar in reserve (although I posted on this recently and other people don't seem to like it much). If your problem is really bad though, I suppose depending on how many chickens you have and whether you know who is doing the pecking, is there any way you could separate any of them into an adjacent area and then re-introduce a bit later when things have settled down a bit
newcountrygirl
Thanks Auntielizzie. I think she may have done this to herself. I have checked her for lice but couldnt see anything. I have treated her by bathing in warm water then putting on gentian violet. She seems a bit happier today and has been tucking into food so hopefully things will improve. I have ordered some columbine spray and will give all the girls a spray - although I checked them yesterday and couldnt see anything. She is such a lovely girl it really upset me. The others arent harrassing her or anything.
