soapdragon Posted March 29, 2013 Share Posted March 29, 2013 Have just made the cake -slight disaster as recipe said an 8' cake tin and I only had a 7 or 9 (typical ) so used the 9 and its sunk in the middle! Will do the top layer of marzipan on Sunday but always get in a muddle with the balls as there is an uneven number! OH is detailed to do hot cross buns on Sunday - we have the outlaws coming on Monday and I am not sure any of these will last till then! I never make a Christmas cake but always do a simnel - maybe I'm feeling guilty about not making our own choccy eggs! Has anyone else made a simnel and what recipe did you use?
