It is my ambition to knit an Aran jumper. I'm practicing my knitting after a 25 year gap!

I've started looking at Aran patterns. Needle sizes, wool, of course! I think about things for a long time, and I need a lot of practice! I've seen a pattern for an Aran scarf that I like, it would be excellent practice.

I haven't bought anything yet.

I'd like to make a patchwork quilt, and a fair-isle jumper one day too.

What are your craft ambitions?

I have just done one of those, having not crocheted since I was a teenager. It is cot size for grandchild due 13th April. I am really chuffed with it. The instructons are so clear on Attic24, had never increased of decreased with crochet before.

 

Hope you get to do one soon Olly it is great fun watching the pattern develop as you add colours. It is also good as you can pick it up and do a bit and put it down again.

 

I would like to do some sewing again, not done any since my early 20's children seemed to stop a lot of the crafting

How would/did you choose the colours for a ripple blanket?!

 

I need tips on how to choose and source wool for an Aran....no rush...

Have you looked at New Lanark? Www.newlanarkshop.co.uk. Or, failing that, www.juneonigbanjo.co.uk - slightly more expensive, but also some lovely naturally coloured wools.
