Odd behaviour, help!

Recommended Posts

One of my five girls has been sitting on the nestbox all morning, I opened the back of the eglu go, to try and gently coax her out, and the other girls had a peep in from their side in the run, and she started shrieking really loudly, not the usual happy 'im-laying-an-egg' noise she usually makes :(

Any suggestions as to what could be wrong with her (if anything?!) :?

Thanks

Im not sure if she is broody, as there were no eggs beneath her, and as soon as i sprinkled some meal worms into the run, she came straight out.

I did notice that the other girls were pecking her and there was a bit of fighting going on. It seemed like she was going inside to avoid them.

Any way I can stop this?

Thanks

broody hens don't necessarily have eggs - have you seen the other thread on this?

Or look here http://club.omlet.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=42&t=14370

She could be feeling a bit under the weather, which hens sometimes do for all sorts of reasons (and hens can be horrible bullies and pick on another bird who's not well)

It's good that she's eating :)

I think the only thing you can do at the mo is keep a close eye on her - or take her to a vet for reassurance if you're very worried

Personally, I'd assume she was feeling broody and 'treat' for that unless there are any other symptoms
