Luvachicken
I have my first broody pekin. She has been practising for a few days but was easily distracted off the eggs and not returning to the nest box. Now she has got the hang of it so I have shut her in the dog crate in the run. I have started at the wrong time in that I put her in there this afternoon, so she will be in there from tonight. Does it matter if she starts at night time - 3 nights + 3 days, instead of 3 days + 3 nights. Am I being a bit dense ? Or shall I ignore tonight and pretend she started tomorrow ? AndreaT
I wouldn't worry too much about being so precise, just keep her in there until she looks like she's back to normal. I had a serial broody last year and she had to spend 7 days in the cage before she gave up!
