feleena4
Hello all I lost one of my Mini Silver Appleyards last week and now have the dilemma of purchasing a mate for the other. I'll be honest, as much as I'm very fond of my ducks they have been much more noisy than expected and wondered whether to get a couple of chickens instead for company? (I have kept chickens for several years). Any advice would be welcome
miller30
Hi you could do but i think it would be better to get another duck if you have a female why dont you get a drake if your worried about noise they dont make any leanne
Chortle Chook
You don't say if your remaining duck is a boy or a girl. If you have just a boy left then why not get another boy and have a nice quiet, peaceful boys brigade With regard to the girlies, I know that someone else on here found their Silver Appleyards extremely noisy. I have Call Ducks which should be very noisy but I have certainly found that some are and some aren't depending on how nervous they are. So my adivce would be to go somewhere where you can see a few together and then pick one that does not quack at you immediately. Other than that you can mix little ducks quite successfully with Silkies. The only trouble is that your wee duck would then have no swimming companion and "Ooops, word censored!"ody to share her / his duck house with
