Chicken deficient
I've been doing some research into safe, effective mite treatments for use on poultry, that don't require egg withdrawal and thought the following may be of interest: http://japr.fass.org/content/21/1/111.full.pdf+html Apparently sulphur powder is more effective than diatomaceous earth and also has residual activity. It is the sulphur in garlic that is responsible for the beneficial effects it has in chickens. Battles sell tubs of sulphur powder, (usually in the horsey section), so locating it should be easy. I also found this article, which has some very clear illustrations: http://www.dummies.com/how-to/content/poultry-external-parasites-lice-and-mites.html
PoachedPlease
That's interesting. I always put garlic in the hens water, and so far have had no problem with worms or lice. Fingers crossed it continues, I don't use any other medications. Xx
