Just out of interest as we are still -less at the moment.... is it safe to let the girls have the eglu door open at night so they have access to the run all the time? Just thinking about if they were to be left for the weekend - is this what you all do?

we have a touring caravan. quite often we go away on a friday and back on a sunday, with plenty of food and water the girls are perfectly fine in the run with the door open - they go in and out when they please.

 

If I go away for a little longer, my sister comes over and lets them out and checks the water and stuff.

Our Eglu door is open permanently. During the winter months is gets left ajar so the hens can shoulder shove the door open. This time of year we leave it wide open all the time. We've had no problems.

Ours is open too at the moment, we left for for a couple of days with food and water and they were fine........

Oh yes, I was also wondering about weekends away...am yet to get my chickens too, am very excited!
