sjp
I've got 3 eggs due Monday today is day 18 so I went to candle them turfed the broody out for her fag break. I'd heard a chick cheeping but thought it was one of the 6 week old growers so thought no more about it, but as I put the first egg into the box I noticed it had piped and one of the other 2 started to rock a little the eggs are small large fowl CLB crosses so not technically bantams. my question is does any think I've likely to have put the hatch at risk now. I'm a bit paranoid after the bad hatch I had back in early May plus it's a first time broody
coco
Hopefully they should be ok. I tried moving my broody and her eggs to a rabbit hutch on day 18, daft thing to do as she wouldn't settle and ended up kicking the eggs about so I put her back in her ark. Three chicks hatched on day 20 and one on day 22. They are now two weeks old and healthy.
sjp
the egg hatched over night at 7am the chick was all dry and fluffy and yellow which was a bit of a surprise as most of my chicks are normally black or dirty brown from my 2nd generation crosses I've just got to wait to see if it's clean necked or not
