KeymerKim
Hi I bought some play sand today to make a dustbath for the girls (with a special tray for them too!) and all they have done is eat the sand!! Should I remove it? They do have plenty of grit to eat and dirt to scratch around in. I'm worried it will do them some harm. They are not just pecking at a bit of it, but taking great mouthfuls!! Any advice would be welcome. KeymerKim xx
Olly
mine did the same ... I don't think it will hurt them, it's just like extra grit, isn't it?
Laura & CTB
My two got some novelty value for a couple of days by eating it - does them no harm and they'll probably get bored eventually.
Snowy
try mixing it with some compost - they seem to like that!
KeymerKim
Thank you all! I got so nervous about them exploding with play sand I took it out - Mean Mummy! I'll put back in tomorrow and try to ignore the smacking of beaks (lips) if they could lick their lips(!) they would. Have fun x
