Purplemaniacs
This morning OH and I were up at 4.30 . It was so peaceful as I let the chickens out. We were up early as we were off to Rutland Water for the Dawn Cruise to see the ospreys. It was a lovely sunny morning but a bit too windy making it difficult for the ospreys to see the fish so they were flying for longer and visiting different areas of the water. We did get to see three ospreys, two reasonably close and one in the distance. Our guide was brilliant he could spot them miles away and then the Rutland Belle truned to "chase" after them . It was a great way to start the day. It was rather cold on the water with the breeze, my fingers have just warmed up. If you are ever in this part of the country I would recommend an osprey cruise. freddie
Do love Rutland Water, so, so pretty. Been a while, as DS has given up competitive windsurfing, so we don't get to camp up there now, for free!!(comps cost enough, trust me!)
Lavenders_Blue
I didn't even know there was such a thing as an Osprey cruise. Well fancy that! I don't go to Rutland Water often (too busy for my liking) but I have been lucky enough to spot an Osprey fishing on a couple of occasions when I've been up there. It's a beautiful sight. Purplemaniacs
I didn't know about them either until a couple of people from the osprey project visited school. They were so interesting I decided to find out more about the ospreys. I drive round the water everyday when I go to work but we don't go very often either. It was lovely and quiet at 6.00 this morning. Chrissie
Lavenders_Blue
Sounds blissful Chrissie. 6am sounds the perfect time to visit, before all the manic, Lycra clad cyclists start charging round.
Purplemaniacs
Lycra clad cyclists start charging round. Didn't see any of those . No other boats on the water either, apparently they have to get special permission for the Rutland Belle to go out so early. Chrissie
