fantasticjudyann
Why do chickens click their beaks? I have kept an eye on Nutmeg who has been doing this for a few weeks. At first I thought she was coughing or sneezing but she has not got a cold. She's eating well, laying and very friendly. She loves cabbage and treats etc so she seems very well except for this. Anyone had a similar experience?
good_egg
What do you mean! Opening and shutting it?
fantasticjudyann
No - shaking her head and making a clicking noise. Could be her neck I suppose.
good_egg
My girls wattles bang off them and make a funny noise! It could be that? If she is shaking her head a lot though there might be something irritating her. Perhaps have a wee check of her ears etc? She ok otherwise? Mrs_B
I'm not sure what you mean either - sorry!! My girls 'feel' the texture of grit and other bits with their beaks which can sometimes cause a clicking noise, but otherwise I can't think of a time when I have seen one of my girls clicking and shaking their heads. I think having a look at their ears is a good idea - or a vet check might be helpful x
