Angelmum21
My chairman told me that there was one BKA club that had all Omlet hives and loved them. Can you tell me where that is ?
Old Speckled Hen
Must be somewhere stinking rich in London. Why don't you ask your chairman?
Olly
Must be somewhere stinking rich in London. I'm afraid it's a myth that Londoners - or London beekeepers - are all rich! I find it hard to imagine a Beehaus-only group though.
Old Speckled Hen
I didn't say all. Having many extremely rich clients while I was working I was frequently amazed at what people can waste their money on.
Angelmum21
I did ask him and he could not remember where it was ( is getting on a bit and things like that escape him although I love working with him because he is so kind to the bees). It's just that I feel a bit isolated where I am and would love to have a group I could talk to and see what comparisons we can make. As a beginner for example the club would normally provide you with a mentor and I did not get one because "Ooops, word censored!"ody really understands the hives and I only have one colony and other starters were talking about setting up several hives on different sites. And to be honest it is a very blokey club and has very few active members as was illustrated at the season ending meeting to sort out the apiary hives for winter when I was the only person to turn up apart from the chairman. Old Speckled Hen
Blokey!!! Yes some are. That's no help to you then, just when you need it. Where are you? Perhaps I can find somebody who might help you out.
Olly
Unfortunately some groups are more active than others, and because a lot of people don't take up beekeeping until retirement a lot of the members are older. I'm very lucky to be in a very active Division where women are well represented. Is there another local Division you could join - you don't have to be in the one which your address is in? It's disappointing that they couldn't find you a mentor, an experienced beekeeper should have been able to advise on the Beehaus even if they'd never worked with that sort of hive, and you'd think someone would have enjoyed the chance to find out about them.
