Jenthelibrarian
I believe that the dyed chicks are an easter novelty in [parts of] the USA, where they are sold as a 'fun' gift A friend of mine has often visited Sierra Leone in conjunction with our charity that sends books out for schools there. She was very surprised to see purple chicks running about a health clinic project she visited, and asked if they were a local breed. The staff had sprayed them all with gentian violet antiseptic in the hopes of putting off the local owls and hawks which keep snatching them away
Sandychick
This is quite a common sight on markets in India. The way they are treated and transported is really shocking. All perfectly acceptable in India though.
Ain't Nobody Here
Although they do look very cute, I was hoping it hadn't been caused by human intervention .
