Sleepless night

Recommended Posts

I know I have been lucky so far but at 4am this morning we woke to hear what sounded like a dog but it was in the street and I think it was a dog fox. We have lived here since 2006 and have only seen a fox once, however they are everywhere. We have the 6 lane Barnet Way up the road where they regularly reach their ends under a car or lorry. Cant relax now - girls will be shut in tonight - door bolted. They have a wooden coop on the end of the eglu run and an eglu but alternate as mood takes them. both will be shut and bolted.

it so hard isn't it, I live in Bromley and that's not at all rural, my next door neighbour leaves her rubbish in the garden so every night during the summer Mr redcoat would make an appearance. At night the girls are in the cube which is inside a secure enclosure.

I worry they might pop back during the day when I am working, although the girls are secure I am still paranoid... electric fencing is going in at the top of my enclosure soon too.

I feel under attack still:(

Didnt hear Monsieur fox last night but was so tired another hurricane wouldnt have woken me. I tentatively let them into the FR area which isnt secure and they only go in when I am in the kitchen but couldnt relax. Hey ho compared to many on here I've been lucky, how do foxes know chickens are around esp if their noise is drowned by traffic??? Smell or just luck of the drawer when they appear in a garden.
