mollyripkim
Sorry another question. Following Tylan treatment for all my flock two girls came down with sour crop, smelly brown liquid from their beaks, I assumed the antibiotics upset their crop bacteria. Treated with probiotics and daktarin oral gel and all seems well with those. Also drained the crop several times a day. Should I be doing anything else. However the orp that was so poorly with myco discharged clear bubbly liquid from her crop yesterday and it's been 10 days since the antibiotics, have been tipping her up and it seems to have cleared, she is not wheezy at all, it's definitely from her crop. As in other post her feathers are coming out in handfuls. Any information or advice greatly appreciated as I am feeling out of my depth now. I wonder if there is something else going on that I am missing which made her susceptible to the myco or is this just the aftermath?
The Dogmother
Keep emptying it and give her 2-3mls of neat ACV twice a day for 3 days. Keep her off food for 24 hours and just give plenty of fluids.
mollyripkim
Thanks Dogmother, thats something I haven't tried. So I have just been out and taken her food away and massaged her crop again, it sounded a bit gurgly but nothing came out this time which I hope is a good sign. I will keep her in and give her the AVC and fingers crossed she gets better.
The Dogmother
It's best to flush it through with liquid only for a while and check that something is coming out t'other end. Mix some poultry tonic in the water you give her, or dose with Nutridrops.
mollyripkim
Yes I have nutridrops so I will give her a dose of that as well. Poor thing has really been through it recently.
