Squirrel Avoidance for Tulip Planting

Recommended Posts

I am planting tulips for the first time. I am planting some in pots and I would also like to plant some in the open ground and some in the small borders on our patio also where the pesky squirrel likes to battle me with the bird feeders! Has anyone any tips to help the squirrel not win. I can cover the pots with wire, but I don't know what to do about the open ground and patio.

I have to plant some of my bulbs in large pots (3 or 4 litre) cover then in wire and bury them in the ground completely to stop the squirrels digging them up. It works for me but is a bit of a performance - it does mean you can leave the bulbs in the ground or lift the whole pots to free up the ground for the rest of the year.
