KimmyCustard
............Pixie passed away during the night so I have just Bubbles left. I am due to collect 3 ex-battery hens on the 15th December but wondered if I should get Bubbles one friend in the meantime? I am worried that she will be lonely on her own for the next 2 weeks and want to do the best for her. So, do I visit Rokers tomorrow and buy her a friend? Do I assume she will be OK for 2 weeks and wait for the 3 ex-batts to arrive? If I do buy her a friend, can I just plop the new girl in with Bubbles or do I need to separate them for a time? Thanks for your advice ladies (and occasionally gentlemen).
Chickabee
So sorry to hear about pixie . I have OCD (obsessive chicken disorder), I would therefore get great enjoyment from getting a new chicken right away. I had really good luck earlier in the year, when I replaced a passed away chicken, with one that looked very similar. Have you got a walk in run? If so keep the girls separate but where they can see each other. Put them to bed together, then see how they are in the morning . You could try them together first, it can work. I personally wouldn't like to keep a lone chicken. I know others on here have done it successfully though. Good luck, whatever you decide
