Leicester_H
Hi I may have asked about this before (ages ago) but thing move on, so forgive me for asking again. I'd like to buy a not too expensive WiFi IP Webcam. It would sit in the living room, plugged into the mains (as I hear external battery powered ones don't run for long) It would wirelessly connect to our home network. I would want the pictures to be viewable via a browser (since OH has a Mac and I have a PC - sometimes hard to get s/w for Macs) Ideally would also have 1. surveillance mode 2. Night 'vision' 3. Pan and tilt (this would only have to work via my PC) Have seen this http://www.amazon.co.uk/Original-Tenvis-professional-JPT3815-JPT3815W/dp/B006P7N2UC/ref=sr_1_1?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1385646169&sr=1-1&keywords=ip+webcam+wireless Good price but only is 640x480 resolution - is this enough ? Any suggestion for what to get (or avoid!) or any other things I should consider ? Thanks in advance, H Edited December 2, 2013 by Guest
Geoid
That one you linked to will do all the stuff you want. 640x480 resolution is plenty. If you want to view it away from home, you will need to forward some ports on your router, might want to double check your router can do this. gongladosh
got one of these - does exactly as Fred mentioned. Using an app you can view the camera output on Android
Leicester_H
OK - after some more investigation, I have finally (I think) chosen this one http://foscam.co.uk/pan-tilt-cameras/foscam-fi8918w-wireless-ip-camera.html (seems to have a good support web site) However, it says "Supported OS Microsoft Windows 2000 / XP / Vista" - I have windows 7. I have emailed them but not heard back yet. Can anyone spot any problems with this choice ? (will be Christmas present from OH!)
Geoid
Most Vista/XP programmes will work on Windows 7 anyway. If not, you can always set it up using your browser, which as long as it is firefox, IE, chrome etc, it will work fine.
