Preventing frozen drinking water

Recommended Posts

i have bought a snugglesafe (from amazon) which you heat in the microwave, it is supposed to stay warm for up to ten hours. I have read on here that some people use them to stand water on to stop it freezing, and others use them in the coop for the chooks to snuggle on for extra warmth.

Not used mine yet. Hopefully someone more knowledgable will be along soon :-)

I got a snuggle safe too. This is my first winter keeping chickens and reading the forums I thought this a good option to stop water freezing during the day. At night I empty the glug if forecast is below freezing, then refill in the morning with fresh water. I have put the snuggle safe in the eglu on the odd night its been really cold. I put it under the roost bars -not sure if the chickens notice the difference but it makes me feel better! Haven't used the snuggle safe in the day to stop water freezing yet. Will probably put it on top of a brick under the glug. Any other suggestions?
