Saronne
Word of my wood wombling eccentricity is getting around...A kindly neighbour just let me know of rather a lot of timber offcuts free for the collecting. Another rang me up and offered me a mature holly tree (minus the leaves). I am deliriously happy!
The Dogmother
us wombles are easily pleased! I noticed that my 'wood to be cut pile' has increased, and a neighbour confessed to having lobbed a few joists over the fence and onto it! Olly
Someone knocked on the door last week - a man delivering cards offering tree cutting services. Would I like some wood? (He'd spotted the pile of logs on the drive). Half an hour later he delivered what appears to be an entire sycamore tree in pieces! I should think there's about half a ton of wood, and I'll need a friend with a petrol chain saw as it's too big for my electric one. I am into year 5 with my woodburner and have not bought wood yet. Wombling is great!
Saronne
I have accumulated a lot of free logs/offcuts, but cannot find it in my heart to turn any down. You never know if these windfalls will ever come your way again!
The Dogmother
I'm the same Saronne I was getting sackloads of free wood from work through the winter, and had them piled up on my patio so they were easy to access. I don't think i touched my actual woodpile at all!
