The lovely people that rescued the M62 hens have been inspired to set up their own hen rescue and have their first adoption day this Saturday at their farm near Eccles, just off M60. They're looking for homes for approx 850 girlies, coming from a farm animal charity that is having to close its doors.

I've had to promise my dad I won't be bringing any home and I think he might be hiding the cat carriers, just to make sure. Don't think "what those old things, had them for months" will wash somehow !

 

I'm going to help with the adoptions on Saturday, so do come and say hello .

Had a great day, surrounded by contented hens enjoying the sunshine and meeting all the lovely people that came to take them to their forever homes . The Hens4Rescue people are fantastic and let me play with some of the dogs they have for adoption too - bliss!

 

The hens had been taken by a charity from a free-range farm and were in a very bad way at first. That charity did a great job with them and they are now feathered and a good healthy weight, and eager to be out and about. There are still hens available if anyone couldn't make yesterday and would like a few new friends in their garden .
