Goolan29
Hi all, This may be me being thick but my settings on this forum seem to be stuck!! I have been trying to post a photograph and although the BBCode setting is activated it says BBCode is off on the side of my post. The same applies to Smilies. Another thing I have noticed is that my online status cannot be changed as the option is not there under settings. I have tried to send a pm to James & Tom (administrators) but although I get a "message sent successfully" notification the message stays in my outbox!!! Any advice would be appreciated please. Thank you
Olly
Firstly, a message will stay in your Outbox until the recipient logs on and picks it up, so that's why it is still in there! Once Tom or James log on and pick up the message, it will disappear from your Outbox. I'm not sure about the smilies, but I can tell you that new forum members aren't able to post photographs until they have racked up a minimum number of posts, sorry I can't recall how many - this was put in as a 'spam' deterrent a couple of years ago as we had a bad spate of spammers and some pictures that were entirely unsuitable for a family forum! I'm sure you'll get a reply from one of the above, but I suspect that this is connected to your status as a new member and that once you've posted a few more times you will find the options become available. Goolan29
Ok Olly, thank you very much for your reply. This all makes sense, glad it wasn't me being a complete computer idiot & hey look I think I can now do a smilie Thanks again.
The Dogmother
Hello Goolan29, welcome to the forum; Olly is right - privilege for all 'extras' doesn't kick in until you've reached a magic number of posts, for the reasons she's stated. I belong to another forum where these things aren't quite so well regulated, and they have an unbelievable amount of vile spam as well as the usual adverts.
