Mrs_B
My Amber has been very poorly for a little while now, she is being treated for a fungal infection of the liver which she succumbed to after coccidiosis. Also she went into a full moult a week after the cocci treatment so she's been very under the weather - though she looks beautiful with new feathering. She hadn't been laying all of the time, maybe 8ish weeks, until Friday when I found my first lash and a pool of yolk in her dog crate that she's currently in whilst she recovers. She laid some egg white/yolk later in the afternoon, and yesterday mostly yolk and some egg white. There's nothing today but there's no indication of the shell. Do you think a lash in this situation could mean she is coming to the end of laying eggs? Or is it the situation and her hormones trying to get back to normal? I don't mind if she is or isn't, I just want her well If she does stop laying, will she cease to stop laying the yolk and egg white as well? She's over 2 years old now... I'm afraid I don't have a photo - it was definitely a lash - meaty looking alien thing x
Beantree
It's only oviduct lining Mrs_B. Sounds like during the shedding process she removed the 'yolks in process' as well. Ours have started laying again after shedding lashes. Takes a few months though.
Mrs_B
That's good to know, Beantree - thank you, you're a fountain of knowledge and have helped me out a lot lately! If our Amber takes a while to lay again that's OK of course I've heard mixed things online, mainly that lashes mean the end of laying eggs. But info on here seems to suggest otherwise, like your experience and after reading a bit more on topics here. Hmm we'll see x
