At the moment I just have an epty box on the left - as you can see. I have tried al sorts to download a small picture both from my computer (of one of my hens) and from a CD of illustrations of various types but all to no avail HELP I want a picture and if I don't get one soon I'm going to sulk
Cate in NZ
OK, I think I'm probably the most technophobic forum user out here, so I'm not entirely sure why I'm attempting to answer this one, apart from the fact that I hate to see any plea for help go unanswered. Hopefully someone a little more computer literate will come along and make everything sound really easy very soon. But, first thing is to choose the image that you want for your avatar, it can be something that you've found on the internet (try google images, just type in the theme that appeals ie chickens, then happy searching through loads of images ). The downside is that you are limited by image size and pixels, (only 80 pixels max and file size 12KB ) so it's not quite as easy as it sounds to find a small enough avatar that someone else hasn't already got. Once you've found something that you like save it to your computer, or to photobucket. Alternatively choose a personal photograph that you like. I've found that it's easier to upload photos from an external host such as photobucket. It's free and easy to set up an account with them, let's face it if I can do it any one can You'll find photobucket here Once you've got your chosen images go to your profile settings. At the avatar control section you'll need to upload your chosen pic, so either go to "upload Avatar from your machine (for something that you've saved) click browse and it will direct you to my pictures or whatever on your computer and you should be able to locate the saved image, click open and it should upload to your profile. Alternatively from an external host go to the line that asks you to enter the URL of the avatar image, just paste in the img code from photobucket (the bottom code from the 3 underneath your pic), and put it into the avatar section. Then click the submit button, and that should be right. That said I'm just off to check out the profile section, to refresh my memory, will edit this in a few mins if there's any glaring mistakes Good luck with it
MaggieMcHen
As you can see I now have a picture so thank you very much - it wasn't the picture I wanted but it will do until I find a better one the correct size. Next question How do I become something other than 'Chicken Eggpert' under the picture? I can't see anything that says that in my profile but it comes up every time. Happy-Mama
Hi, if you want to use one of your own photos for your aviater you can resize it before uploading it. If you want any help with that just send me a pm.
MaggieMcHen
Yes it does many thanks I'll stop trying to find a place to change it and get on with resizing photos to 80 x 80 pixels Maggie
