motherchuck Posted July 22, 2014 Share Posted July 22, 2014 I know this is a long shot, but is there anyone in Chester (Saltney/Curzon Park area) missing two young hens? They were found on wasteland on Saturday 12th. July. I am looking after them at the moment in my spare run (I had just bought a "Go Up" as a spare so that I could move my chickens onto the grass!) So I no longer have a spare! I really would like to find the owners of these two hens as I already have 4 and my garden is not really big enough for any more. motherchuck Posted July 24, 2014 Author Share Posted July 24, 2014 One is definitely a hen as she started to lay last Sunday. Judging by the fuss she made before laying (bless!) and the size of the egg, I think it was her first. The other one is losing a lot of feathers and I wonder if she is a bit stressed. I am sure she is only young because she has light coloured legs, rather than an older hen moulting. Also When they first arrived, she kept snuggling underneath the bigger one and she was very nervous. There is no sign of her crouching, yet.
