nin-chicken
My hybrid girls are just over a year old and are all good layers, until recently that is. About 6 months ago Felicity started to lay a softie around once a month. My other girls have never laid one. Then over the past couple of weeks she's laid only one normal egg and probably around 5 or 6 softies. I haven't changed their diet and the other two are still laying normally. At first I wondered if it was the heat but its cooled off now. I've cut right back on treats and they always have access to oyster shell & grit. I've put ACV in their water this week and put some egg shell improver in their food. They are wormed every 3-4 months and I've checked them for lice. Is there anything else I can do or can anyone explain what's going on? She is behaving normally otherwise. Thanks!
Purplemaniacs
There is a post here http://club.omlet.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=97750&p=1294762&hilit=limestone+flour#p1294762 that talks about softies and using limestone flour and cod liver oil. This is what I do when my ex bat lays softies or thin shelled eggs. Chrissie
