DeborahP
Hi I have two 15 week old bantam Pekin girls and two 15 week roosters all from a brood of eggs here at home I also have 4 x 2 year old pekins -my established flock. I am wondering how to settle them , -ideally I could have two coops with 3 girls and 1boy in each coop. Boys are beginning to sexually mature. -or just let them settle in one coop and see what happens...... Last night one rooster up a tree, all hens reluctant to go into the coop but they did finally go in( they all free range all day) and one hen decided to stay out but I caught her and placed her on the roosting bar. What a Palava...help....advise please!
mullethunter
I have no basis for this but if it were me I'd try them all in together if there's room. Especially as they FR all day. Partly because it'd be easier in the long run, but also because if you go for two lots of 3+1 you'll either have to introduce a lone young'un to each pair of grown up Pekins, or have one older girl on her own and she would probably miss her mates. DeborahP
Thanks Mullethunter, that did cross my mind! So tonight they've all gone in together..... The shinanagins probably happens when they get up in the morning when it gets light until I let them out at 7 am.
