redbug
My YD is thinking about buying a k mix does anyone have one of these and what are they like?
Olly
I have one and it's excellent. I spent a long time dithering between this and a KitchenAid, eventually I decided I'd just be paying for the brand - the KMix has a more powerful motor and accessories are cheaper than the KitchenAid (although still expensive). It doesn't look quite as cute but it was cheaper. I use this at least twice a week, and I've made bread, biscuits, cake, pastry, meringue ... it does pretty much everything you'd want and I strongly recommend it. redbug
Some nice colours! Wouldn't mind one myself Sent my daughter your info! Thanks Olly
Princess Leia
Have had a K-Mix bowl mixer for a few years ago. Wouldn't be without it. As pointed out above it is both cheaper and more powerful that the KitchenAid Artisan ones - I think they only became popular as a result of them being used on GBBO. Bought the matching hand whisk and kettle as well, all have been without fault. John Lewis currently have the K-Mix on offer at £260 (in all the solid colours) with a free matching blender http://www.johnlewis.com/kenwood-kmix-kmx54-stand-mixer-and-blx54-blender-black/p234014801#tabinfo-spcl-offr

jess1merlin
Hope your daughter is getting on well with her Kmix, I keep looking at these and the Kitchen Aid and can't decide. I'm hoping I might get a good deal in the sales I would be interested to know if she is happy with her machine.

Mrs Webmuppet
I went to the Kenwood factory outlet shop in Havant during the week and saw the assorted Kenwood mixers........just as well I don't possess a credit card ......I did get a new food processor to replace my over tired 20 year old machine though. jess1merlin
I'm glad she is getting on well Redbug, think I will go for the Kmix as it seems to do everything just as well as the Kitchenaid but is a better price. Just got to decide on the colour now
Mrs Webmuppet
Having seen them in the flesh 'so to speak' the stripy ones look fab.
Blackrocksrock
Debenhams have them on at £200 which I think is a good price and its a stripey one! But Currys have the classic chef for £169.99 which is a heavier and higher motor!
Mrs Webmuppet
Homebase are doing the KMIX 51 (the red one)for £288 and adding a whopping discount of 20% on top of that and free delivery too......came out as £231.11 ........strange how it fell in the basket, that's my Christmas money blown in one go. . Mrs Webmuppet
Seeing as I do an awful lot of baking, it should make my life a lot easier (I have been using cheapy hand held mixers and they only last a few months ). According to LMW there would be a riot at school if the girls didn't get cake on a regular basis.
Blackrocksrock
I blew my xmas money on the Kenwood Prospero - slightly smaller than the 50 year old Kenwood that has just died on me - so hopefully it will be good - lots of accessories with it! John Lewis = 2 year guarantee
jess1merlin
I missed debenhams offer for the grey stripe Kmix and had been waiting for it to come back in stock. We were out in Barnstaple yesterday and came across a really nice cook shop I have never found before in the window they had Kitchenaid artisan mixers in the sale so I bit the bullet and went in and ordered one in boysenberry, it is due to come in later today so fingers crossed I can collect it later
redbug
Have you got you kmix jess?
jess1merlin
No, I got a KitchenAid artisan in the end as they had them on offer in our local kitchen shop. I saw one in the window and somehow I just couldn't get past the door without popping in to have a look. Naughty I know but sometimes these things happen
