hatching eggs and setup

Recommended Posts

I have purchased a rabbit hutch for breeding and was wondering whether it should be kept in the run with the other hens and coop or whether to put it out of site of the others? I wasn't sure if seeing the other hens in the run would distract and upset the broody as she wouldn't be able to get to them. I also wondered how long I can keep the chicks in the hutch before I need to move them to a run?

Best if the broody stays within sight of the hens she will go back to, otherwise it will be a difficult re-introduction.

Depends how many chicks you have, how big they grow and how big the hutch run area is, but we normally release ours from the rearing units and into a run at 10 weeks. Mother hen is taken out at 6 weeks, by which time she would be getting a bit bored anyway.

Well I can sit the hutch in the run thats not a problem. I want 6 eggs and they will be polish so quite small. The hutch run is 3 ft x 2 ft wide and then has the bed part. The photo of my run is on my account but I dont remember how to put photos on

If you mean your photo is on your Photobucket of Flikr account, then you can easily copy the url of the picture and add in the URL brackets on the button above or type the brackets yourself [url*] link [/url*] (with the * removed)

Photobucket also provides readymade links (you can find those on the right of your picture). You don't have to add anything when using these, just copy and past. I don't know about Flikr, but imagine they have something similar

When you click on it, it will show you your picture in Photobucket. On the right it will give you a number of options, including image thumb. Those will show your picture small and people can click on it to see it bigger.

I'm on my iPad too, but somewhere in the settings of photobucket you can choose which types of links you want to use. One option is IMG thumb. Those will give you the smaller option. Another option is to reduce picture size itself, but I'm too lazy to do that.
