Alis girls
I think my youngest hen is moulting - she is a bit off colour and is bare bummed. No swellings and no lice, mites or puffy bits. Bum is a bit smelly but cant see why. I had another hen who when moulting nearly died of starvation as the others were bullying her and she got no food. OH fed her porridge night and day with extra meal worms and corn on her own and she perked up. This lass has been wormed and there are only 2 of them so I have put extra feeder and water. I have given her live yoghurt and her layers pellets and she has perked up. I got an egg today - both hens have red combs - the other is 5 so I am not sure whos laying. Is this normal for them to go a bit off food - I only ask as I cant find any threads on the subject. Thanks Ali x
Lewis
They usually stop laying when they moult which would account for the smaller appetite but after a while I'd expect her to start eating more ready to start feather growth. Hope she perks up soon
