What is it with Bluebelles?

Recommended Posts

My Bluebelle is at least 4 maybe 5. She's stunning, had a deep red comb, clear eyes and lovely plumage. Thing is she lays shelless egg nearly every day, then a lash every week or so. As long as it's not causing her any distress I am absolutely fine with this. She's a weighty girl.

They've just been wormed, don't get too many treats, have plenty of fresh water and a grit station (which is great). Before they were wormed they were having oregano extract in their water. A small amount.

Any comments, I'm not going to cull her just because she's not laying, but don't want her to be distressed (she doesn't look it)

it's partly her age but it could also be an amino acid deficiency try using life guard tonic it works for Me on both youngsters and older hens. I had a Columbian black tail hybrid when I first started keeping chickens and she basically was a very poor example of a hybrid for the first couple of months all she laid were doubles and shell less eggs until I put her on life guard it settled her into egg laying relatively quickly but I did have to use it once a month there after until her first moult after which she never laid again also dandelion leaves are a good source of calcium that is easier for them to convert into the type of calcium they need for egg shell
