ArcticFox
Hi all. I'm new to keeping chickens. Have 6 of them - four are ex-batts, one is an 8yo speckled and the other is a 1yo legbar Had them a year. Was planning on worming with flubenvet but it's OOS. What would you recommend I use? I have dogs so anything that won't harm them and ideally something to put in feed as one hen will not be caught! I am about to post a question about raising chicks too as our legbar has just hatched four Scots Dumpy chicks - they are two days old and I need advice on what to do next regarding letting them out etc. will post in the hatching bit. Thanks in advance. Chicken keeping is fun! Loving it!
Mar1a
I use marriages pellets with added flubenvet. They don't get anything else to eat during that week so all they have is those. I get them from Farm and Pet place. If you're getting them for the first time, they'll ring you to go through some questions then send it out really quickly. The Dogmother
Yep, and they are in stock at the moment. With regards to chicks; they will need separate housing with their mum, and shoudl be kept apart from the rest of the flock until they are large enough to fend for themselves, so around 12 weeks. Mum will get fed up with them, and want to go back with the flock before that though.
ArcticFox
fab! thank you, have ordered some. the only one I can't worm is the broody hen, will have to wait until the chicks are eating normal food. still hoping for some advice on that in the hatching section! The Dogmother
You can put her feeder higher up, but she will probably just eat the chick crumbs then!
