ricmonddan
Hi I have had my 3 girls for a while now (3 Hybrids) I decided to get them a chicken swing. U installed it yesterday to a massive fuss. The ladies are terrified of it, not just a little bit scared, they stay in the complete other half of the run now and if they even glace at it they squawk and run away. Not even corn could get them within a metre of it. fingers crossed they will man (rooster) up.
Ain't Nobody Here
Oh dear . I had the same reaction when I installed a lovely tyre for a dust bath for my lucky ladies (or the Black Hole of Death, as they called it ). I hope they conquer their fear . Coolz
Haha awwww really? Poor things!! Mine arrived literally today (well, I had to pick it up from the post office we our normal postman is on holiday and our temporary cover doesn't understand how to knock or attempt to deliver to a neighbour! ) I'm working from home tomorrow so have decided to give them their first free range session. I'm going to install it whilst they're out having fun!
Eggshell
My three are very wary too. One of them did manage to peck up some mealworms dropped just next to the swing, and somehow they got hold of the mealworms I'd left on the swing itself, though I didn't see how. I suspect it'll be a few weeks before they're willing to stand on it, though, if they ever do - they seem to prefer the ground to any of the perches around. My next batch of chickens, however ...
