SarahGlymond
Hi guys You may have read a lost one of my 2 chooks Easter Sunday well I bite the bullet and bought Elizabeth 2 new friends a Rhode Island Red called myrtle and a rhode Rock called Winnie In the past I have only ever had 2 chooks so there wasn't that much of a pecking order going on that I could see my two girls stuck together happily Elizabeth my old bird has asserted her authority as the top chook which in a way she always was but I seem to have a split in the group Elizabeth and myrtle who are of similar size are sticking together and then Winnie who is a bit younger than myrtle as her comb hasn't developed properly yet and not laying (myrtle is laying which I was very surprised at only habving then since Sunday) is a bit of a loner I think she will be bottom chook I did catch Elizabeth chasing her round the coop yesterday but she didn't hurt her Is it just me being over protective as I hate to see her all by her self all the Time or is she ok I don't want to buy another chook and it be 3 against 1 On another note Elizabeth will share her nest box with Winnie as Myrtle prefers to roost on the bars Weird I hope they settle and be come best of friends
Olly
It's normal, someone has to be bottom of the pecking order and Winnie will be happy to know her place in the flock. It looks horrible to us but it isn't that bad. As long as she's eating and drinking and not being pecked so badly that blood is drawn, she'll be fine. mullethunter
Ditto what Olly said. When Winnie comes into lay she may become a bit more assertive anyway.
