bluekarin
A while ago I saw a recipe on tv made using broccolli and orzo and probably garlic. For the life of me I cannot remember who cooked it, and I can't find a recipe anywhere. Im pretty sure I didn't dream it From what I can remember the broccolli was chopped up finely and slowly cooked in butter with garlic until soft and almost creates a sauce and then orzo is added. But thats all I can remember Does it ring any bells with anyone? Even if the recipe isnt online, but you could tell me who the chef is would be amazing. Daphne
Sorry I can't, but I can give you a delish recipe that we had the other night, which sounds kind of similar. For 2 people, but easily scalable: 1 onion, finely chopped couple of garlic cloves, chopped Streaky bacon/pancetta/lardons, chopped (say a rasher or 2 per person) NB you can omit this if you want a veggie meal about 125g frozen peas or enough broccoli to feed 2 people, chopped into small pieces [in fact you could use shredded cabbage/kale or chopped peppers, or mushrooms, whatever you have. The pea and bacon is the basic recipe, but it could be only veg, or chicken and veg, whatever you like!] Chili flakes (optional) Juice of 1 or 2 lemons [i like lemon and the orzo is very bland. Perhaps use 1 and taste to see if you want more] small carton yogurt (optional) 1 pint stock - veg or chicken 250g orzo Cheese to sprinkle I cook this in a wide frying pan with a lid. But you could use a large saucepan plus lid. Start off with lid off. You gently fry the onion and bacon if using in olive oil till softened, then add the green veg, garlic and sweat down another few minutes. Add chili if using, fry few seconds. Add orzo, and stir about to coat. Add stock, little bit to start, stir around. Then just add the rest all at once. Bring slowly up to boil, no need to keep stirring, just keep an eye on it, once at the gentle boil, turn down to simmer, lid on and revisit in approx 5-10 mins, stirring to stop it sticking. Once its cooked (test the orzo, should be al dente), then squeeze over lemon juice which gives it piquancy, turn off heat and stir in yogurt if using. You can also sprinkle some cheese over if you like. [We like Particularly if its veggie]
bluekarin
Sounds good! A bit like a pasta risotto. The reason I am trying to find the other one is because it doesn't use onion (its flares my IBS) I shall get on and make that for my dinner, thank you
