4m x 3m Omlet pen, cube, new auto door still boxed and coop light

Yesterday I dropped my husband off at work and came back to find Doris in the nesting box. I assumed she was laying a whopper as she was there for a while. I then saw her get up and push an egg underneath her! I grabbed her off and she seemed to come to and wandered off. No more problems.

 

This morning she was on Frankie's egg! I took her off and she went to eat and now she is back on. I felt underneath and it's very warm but no egg. Is she laying or nesting on nothing?! I suppose I iwll wait till i get back from dropiing matt off to find out.

 

What do you think I should do?! I worry as I am around fro the next few days but start back at work on Monday so wont be here to monitor!

I just got back and she had layed an egg and was sitting on it!

yes she is at that in between stage just lift her off the eggs and let her eat etc, move the eggs form under her obviously. She'll probably snap out of it as the days shorten and get cooler.

It just worries me that from monday i will be leaving the house as 7 and she will have the whole day with noone to take her off the eggs! We've only had her 2 months the daft chicken!

ours brood their eggs fpr about 10 minutes after laying then get up and eat and forget about them some mothers they will be!
