orpingtons

Recommended Posts

Try looking in the back pages of Practical Poultry magazine - they have breeders listed by area. Also email barbara@omlet.co.uk, she has a list of recommended breeders and might be able to give you some ideas. These breeders may know of someone who does breed orps. Not many people keep them because they are so big and need spacious housing, they are also inclined to go broody quite often and are good mothers.

Being really ignorant about geography - not sure if this chap is near you or not? Or near-ish??? But he's very helpful on the phone - I had a good chat before I even started keeping chickens and although I eventually decided against Orpingtons, he was very friendly and helpful, and may even know of someone even closer......
