robskyd
You need to get in the run yourself and drink from it so they see how its done. (sorry that's neither constructive or helpful but I made myself laugh!!)
Mel (& Paul)
anything that keeps you amused robskyd Em - your girls should find the water soon and will learn to drink out of it no problem - how long have you had the chooks and how long the glug - what did they used to drink out of? Guest
As funny as "robskyd's" post is, it's actually kind of how you do it... But instead of you drinking out of the glug you dip your hens beak into the glug (don't drown them though by holding them down!!!) Once they know where it is they will soon get the hang of it... And if it is the kind that is hanging on the wire in the run the height may affect their ability to drink! So just double check it is at the right height for your hens! Would you want to stretch your neck fully everytime you wanted to drink? Edited September 6, 2007 by Guest
Leicester_H
Mine just took to it - can't imagine what the problem might be. Since they lift their heads to get water to fall down throats, it seems sensible to have water off of the ground, but you might try putting a bowl down (mine do drink dirty puddle water !!) My 2 don't seem to drink much at all - are you sure they're not drinking ? Are they well ? Hazel
