gareth
Now have a cockerel becoming a Rooster. whats the situation with fertile eggs? Do they keep ok? Assume eating them ok still? Had chickens for ages but never had a rooster so never had this consideration before.
Daphne
Yes, perfectly fine to eat. They keep just the same, but a small word of warning. Obvs you should keep eggs cool or at room temp (people have different views on this!) It is particularly important not to keep fertile eggs on the warm side of room temp, otherwise there is a chance they will start to develop! I say this because it happened to me once having left some eggs in a window, which was a bit stupid, but if you keep them in the dark and on the cool side of room temp you won't have a problem. When giving eggs away or if you sell them, then I would always give the freshest eggs and keep the older ones for the family.
