Rabbieboy
We bought Wee Moira, a Gold Pencilled Eygptian Fayoumi when she was 9 weeks old, she is now 18 weeks old. This breed is supposed to mature quickly at around 16 weeks an lay a small to medium sized tinted egg, as she is a rare pure breed is it too late in the year for her to start laying? Christian
You never know Rab! If we get some more sunny days she might do! I have hybrid hens not pure breeds, but a friend has pure breeds and they still lay in the winter, though not as often. They need 14 hours of daylight per day to lay well, hence the drop in Winter. Fingers crossed for you (and Moira)
Milly
Our gold legbar just started laying yesterday, and again today, when I had almost given up hope for this year. She has had a big floppy comb for ages. BUT - she is 28 weeks. So I think the only thing I can say is - don't give up hope! Milly
