Duckling still attached to egg but no yolk left to absorb. Also struggling to lift head.

Recommended Posts

We have a Pekin duckling who has been hatching over the last 72 hours from start to almost finish, it still has the umbilical cord attached but the yolk and cord are dry?

Also she was struggling to lift her head at all but she managed to lift it for a second or two just now. Any thoughts? Do I need to intervene or hope it runs its course? She is premature and she peeped the wrong end of the egg. I think it's wearing her out (I say she could be he).

Any info or advice would be greatly appreciated
