breed suggestions pls

Recommended Posts

Hi... I am still humming and haa'ing (will get there eventually! ) and am now thinking more about breeds - ds has decided that *his* bird will be a silkie which is fine but they don't lay a great number of eggs and I am now wondering about having mixed breeds..

we need small/medium birds that can cope with being confined in a run most but not all of the time, that are docile and friendly for young children and can't fly! I would like to get a decent amount of eggs from at least 1 hen!

what breeds would you suggest that would fulfil the above?! Will mixed breeds be ok together?

thanks, m2b
