just watched Jamie Oliver and he showed an easy way to grow beansprouts in jars. Can I give them to the chickens? I worry about them eating grass as it's so fibrous but cress and beansprouts are nutritious but not fibrous aren't they?

 

what does everyone think? can i grow some then give them to the girlies? would they be safe for them?

There was an article in Practical Poultry Mag a while ago about a lady who was sprouting all sorts of seeds to give them to her hens. They were thriving on them, as they are a powerful source of vitamins....so yes...I'd say go for it.

All I can say is that I threw some stir fry mix that we didn't use into the pen last week & the beansprouts were avoided by all the hens, which is very unusual

 

I had to go in the next day & pick them out
