Pink albumen!

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone

Has my 4 girls since early June now and just love them to bits! :D I've started a much sought after business supplying eggs to my workmates and demand far outstrips supply.

Anyway, had a report back today that one of the eggs had a normal colour yolk but the albumen was quite a dark pink colour. :roll: Any ideas what would have caused this? She said that it smelt fine but didn't want to use it.

Never had this feedback before. There's been a few fireworks going off lately and wondered if one of the girls got a bit of a fright!? Any ideas anybody?

:? Two thoughts;

One; blood related, but not seen this before so don't know how likely it is. I suppose you need to see if you can identify which hen laid these.

Two; I do know that this can happen if they ate something extemely red! For example, dyed fishing maggots instead of the plain white ones.... :oops::oops: ...guess how I know? :lol:

Whatever it is, I hope it's temporary, and do report back how it goes. :)
