ktdot
Apologies if this topic has already been covered but I couldn't find it on the forum. Husband has just put down autumn lawn feed on our very sad back lawn. It looks like very tiny white pellets. He has tried watering it in but you can still see them on the surface. We have kept the chickens in the run for the last 2 days but do you think they are likely to eat it? (Bearing in mind one of mine is stupid enough to eat rubber bands ) If they do, will it harm them? (I think it's only a feed, not got moss or weed killer in it)
Guest
doesn't it tell you on the packet how long to keep animals off the treated area, they normally do?
ktdot
Just braved the revolting weather and found the box in the garage. It does have moss killer in it (why did he get that? We don't have any moss!) Says not to store near pet foods so thats answered my question. No more free ranging until it's gone.
Christian
Most of them recommend applying it when it is dry, and not to water it in. The one i have just used did. (How are you supposed to know for definate that it will be dry)? Needless to say, the chickens won't be allowed out in that area for a while. Better safe than sorry. Fabergé
We put down some feed & weed about a month ago. we then went through a spell with no rain & as the arrival of our girls was imminent, we got the garden sprinkler out! Seems to have worked. Gloria
ktdot
Visited the website of the company that made it and in their FAQ section there was a question about letting children and pets back on the lawn. They said smaller animals that graze on the lawn should be kept off for 5-7 days.
