KJL
Urgently need some advise to help reduce calcium levels in my seven year old female guinea pig. I took her to the vets today as it looked like she had 'wet tail' or a UTI. The vet says neither but he feels there is a build up of calcium in her diet which has cuased the problem at her back end. I have been advised which fruit and veg has a lower calcium level and will adjust her diet accordingly. I have also been told to change her drinking water from tap to bottled. The vet did not mention changing her dried food though. She is currently on Supreme Science Selective. Should I consider changing her to the grain free option? Any other advise anyone can add would be gratefully received.
Cat tails
Guinea pigs at the rescue, where I sometimes volunteer, with the same issue also get bottled water, but otherwise stay on the same diet. But best to contact your vet about this again.
