Blossom
Hi thinking about getting 2 - 3 chickens but only have a small garden and already have a large hutch with 1 rabbit and 2 guinea pigs. i know chickens get on with pretty much any pet but wondered if we got a larger hutch and run could the chickens actually live with the rabbit etc. in the same one. Thanks, Blossom
chelsea
Welcome I wouldnt advise housing a rabbit with a chicken, chickens can be quite feisty when they want to be and I would suspect they would constantly peck the poor rabbit, they even peck my mother in laws terrier! Although even if you have a small garden if you can accommodate and eglu & run/or coop then you can still have chickens in a normal suburban garden. jomaxsmith
I wouldn't think so. Chickens are pretty vicious to other creatures. One of mine cornered a robin in the run the other day and it was only by luck with robin escaped with its life. I should imagine a slow moving prey like a rabbit would get thoroughly pecked! theherd123
I agree with the above. The chickens do need a space they can call their own and somewhere they can run around it too so an eglu of wooden coop with run would be ideal - that way all your pets can have their own space and be happy

Thanks, Blossom We've got an Egloo in a smallish garden, its on a frame containing bark so we dont have to move it around. We let them out ok to wander around and they get on very well with our old Staffie terrior who leaves them alone. She thinks that they are stupid things and says that she doesn't like eggs anyway. I cant imagine and Rabbit/Hen problems myself.

Jo I agree with Jo. Chickens will peck at the rabbits if they are in a confined space together. They would be fine free ranging together as the rabbits would be able to escape but I think that they would probably be picked on by the hens in a run.
