HennyPenny
Collected just 2 eggs today - 1 was ok but had a couple of strange litle ridges on the shell. The other one though - eww! It's ridged all over like an egg-shaped walnut and feels like a ceramic egg. I'll try and post a pic - it's really very odd.... Any ideas? Tara123
I think this is when a soft shelled egg has been laid then it has gone hard while drying afterwards, but the ridges still remain. Not totally sure but I'm sure someone on will correct me if I'm wrong
Snowy
The ridges usually occur while the egg is still inside the hen and before the shell has been laid down. It can be due to stress or some trauma, older or immature hens may be more prone to lay wrinkly eggs. One of my gingers laid very wrinkly eggs last year. They've actually improved since she moulted! Egluntyne
One of my girls sometimes laid wrinkly eggs. Since I have been adding Limestone Flour to their feed I haven't noticed one.
